Aim of the funding
As part of the IGP programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the development of the cloud-based service platform ‘MobilBloodCare’ is being funded. It supports mobile blood sampling organisationally and improves cooperation between doctors, laboratories and patients.
In the course of digitalising healthcare services, the funding serves as a basis for addressing existing gaps in outpatient and home care (home visits, blood sampling, laboratory diagnostics) with new solutions and closing them better in future.
Four process steps, digitally coordinated
Order
Doctors and patients commission qualified staff via web and app.
Sampling
Organisation of home visits for location-independent blood sampling.
Logistics
Digital sample logistics and handover to a laboratory close to the patient’s home.
Report
Digital provision of the laboratory results, e.g. via an online portal or QR code.
The funding relates to the design, development and testing of these digital processes. Blood sampling and laboratory services are provided and billed independently of the funding.
Brief description
Today, blood samples are usually taken at the individual doctor’s practice, and thus tied to a location, by the treating doctor or medical assistants. After sampling, the sample goes to a laboratory, which analyses it and sends the result to the treating doctor. This process is time-consuming and requires two personal visits to the practice: one for the sampling and one to discuss the results.
The project aims to create a web application and smartphone app with which doctors and patients can commission qualified medical staff for blood sampling independent of location or as part of home visits.
An accompanying process is to ensure that the samples are delivered to the nearest laboratory and that a laboratory report is available via online/QR code by the following day at the latest.
The solution initially provides for an intuitive, user-friendly interface and the backend, plus a GDPR-compliant server infrastructure. In addition, the service itself – location-independent sample collection with laboratory analysis – and the processes and interfaces to those involved (patients, medical practices, clinics, laboratories, etc.) are to be implemented.
Through needs analyses with pilot customers, the business model is aligned with the needs of contractual partners and different patient groups (families, people with limited mobility, people in need of care, etc.). Existing software solutions of those involved are to be integrated so that contractual partners can be connected with as few hurdles as possible.
